Walk Through Open Doors In 2024

Happy New Year. You’re probably finalizing your 2024 goals, and I have a few thoughts for you to ponder as you finish and continue to massage them through the year.

How will you ELEVATE and CELEBRATE?

Each year, I choose one word that keeps me focused with the right mindset and activity to create the life I want to live. Last year, my word was Shine.
I have two themes this year - "Elevate" and "Celebrate." I've been moving quickly and accomplishing quite a bit over the last few years, and now it's time for me to take things to the next level. I don't necessarily want to do more (I know some people have the theme of doing more in 2024); I want to maximize my impact this year.

The word 'elevate' means to lift, move, or rise to a higher place or position. I aim to use this word to inspire and uplift others and my business.
However, I also realize the importance of acknowledging wins, no matter how small or big they may be. Therefore, I have added the word 'celebrate' to my vocabulary and choose to recognize achievements intentionally.
If you haven't practiced choosing One Word, here's a resource for you to choose one word:

I'm sure you are confident about your goal-setting and getting abilities. For the last several years, I’ve separated my goals into categories in my life and wanted to share the technique with you.

Sometimes we get wrapped up in work goals but neglect to set goals for all areas of life. Below are some suggestions:

  1. Personal-  At the top of most lists are goals like weight loss, exercise, read more, etc.  Be sure to make them specific (lose 10 pounds, walk 30 minutes every day, learn a new language by summer, etc.)

  2. Family- Increase the number of times you talk with them (if, for example, your adult children live somewhere other than you do), take a vacation together, etc.

  3. Financial – Elevate your savings account to X amount, increase organizations to donate to, etc.

  4. Work/Business- Develop a new project, acquire new clients, join a new organization,  etc.

  5. Spiritual- More time for prayer and meditation, join a bible study, etc. I am going to Jamaica with my church to conduct a vacation bible school on my first mission trip!

Remember, as you complete your goals, to contemplate how you will elevate and celebrate. Put your goals someplace you will see them daily. My 'old school' approach is to write each of them on a 3x5 card and place them by my desk. Additionally, I suggest breaking down your goals by quarter. This will allow you to regularly review your progress, celebrate your accomplishments, and assess why certain tasks may not have been completed. You can also evaluate whether you want to remove a goal and replace it with something else. Remember, setting and achieving goals is a process.

Speaking of Elevate and Celebrate, my significant achievement last year was deciding to write a book and then buckle down to complete and publish it. Indeed, it was a labor of love and clarified my purpose and passion.
Now, I want to support others on what the title and subtitle suggest: to RELEARN LEADERSHIP, change your mindset, increase your impact, and transform your team.
Be on the lookout for more information on upcoming programs around these areas. If you haven’t already purchased the book, Click here https://www.amazon.com/RELEARN-LEADERSHIP-Mindset-Increase-Transform/dp/B0CNNTTPM1/

Other resources I'm involved in that I think can support you in elevating your year:

I will be leading a panel that will discuss how AI will impact Talent. This annual summit provides an excellent opportunity for education and networking, and this one promises to be no different. It will be filled with excellent tips and connection potential. I hope to see you there!
